Predental Resources

Being a predental member of ASDA comes with plenty of benefits and resources on both the local and national levels. We have tried to make our resources comprehensive, easy to read, and convenient by compiling them here. At Colorado ASDA, we encourage all predental students to Join ASDA , which offers the opportunity to enter a strong network of future dentists. Through ASDA, you can be involved in national events, including but not limited to National Leadership Conference (Chicago, IL), Annual Session (Pittsburgh 2019), and Lobby Day (Washington DC). ELEVATE your application!

  • Predental membership is open to any undergraduate, high school student or individual pursuing dentistry as a career (must reside in the United States).

  • Foreign-trained dentists living in the U.S. who will be applying to dental school to become licensed in the U.S. should also choose this category.

  • Predental membership dues are $68.

  • View a complete list of member benefits .

At Colorado ASDA, we offer several discounts to our national ASDA members (beginning summer 2018): $20 off our Summer Predental Academy admission, $10 off Predental Day admission, and $15 off Predental Conference admission ($45 value). Instructions for obtaining your refund(s) can be found on each respective event’s registration page (see Events).

Events

At Colorado ASDA, we strive to host enriching events where predental students located across the Rocky Mountain region (and beyond!) can gain experience that will give them an edge in the dental school application. Let us at Colorado ASDA help ELEVATE your AADSAS application MILE HIGH! All of our upcoming predental events can be found here.

SUMMER PREDENTAL ACADEMY

Colorado ASDA’s trademark event, the Summer Predental Academy, occurs every June/July on select Saturdays. The Academy will provide participants with an incredible jumpstart on their application, including presentations by CU admission staff, faculty, and students.

You will be exposed to what life is like as a dental student, learning not only about the dental school application specifics and admission, but also the ins and outs of the profession. We will hold workshops to discuss personal statements and mock interviews to probe and offer constructive feedback. The Academy will allow predentals ample time spent in the school’s state-of-the-art Tech and SIM clinics, where participants will get significant exposure to waxing and drilling activities. Flex your hand skills and impress us! Other planned activities include: first impressions, case presentations with DS3 and DS4 students, and presentations from our many sponsors.

This series of events is not to be missed and will greatly lend to your application and interview arsenal. Stay tuned about our program dates! The 2019 Academy will be taking place during the month of June. Registration information is TBA. Stay tuned!

SPRING PREDENTAL DAY

Every spring, Colorado ASDA hosts Predental Day where those interested in applying to dental school can visit our campus to learn more about life as a dental student. This event is dedicated to providing predental students with information on life in dental school, advice for applying, and a presentation from admission staff! Like with many of our events, predentals will have a shot at practicing their hand skills in our SIM clinic. It is highly encouraged to attend this event if you are adamant about acceptance into dental school or just want to learn more about our profession. As always, non-traditional students are welcome! Our 2019 Spring Predental Day will be held on a date to be determined. Please visit again as summer 2019 draws nearer.

FALL PREDENTAL CONFERENCE

During the Fall of 2017, Colorado ASDA hosted the first ever Predental Conference to close our National Predental Week! The Conference featured presentations from Dr. Amisha Singh, recent CU DDS graduate and Dr. Alan Sutton, prosthodontist extraordinaire and beloved CU faculty. At our fall Predental Conference, predentals will be exposed to narrower fields of dental practice and also see some inspiring cases – the perfect opportunity to broaden the your depth of dental knowledge. This event is not to be missed! Our finalized date and registration information is TBA. Stay tuned!

SHADOWING OPPORTUNITIES

Colorado ASDA  offers shadowing opportunities to predental students to see a day-in-the-life of a dental student. Follow us to class, lab, and even clinic! If you wish to shadow a dental student, please email us at predental@coloradoasda.org. We are in session Monday-Friday from 8 am-5 pm most dates (excludes academic holidays and board examination dates). Due to the busy nature of our didactic and clinic schedules, significant advanced notice is appreciated. We do not have opportunities for dental assistants to work with students in clinic at this time, our opportunities are strictly shadowing.

CAMPUS VISITS:

Colorado ASDA is happy to visit your home campus to present to your predental or prehealth organizations! In the recent past, we have done application workshops, admission presentations, and dental student Q&As. After hours appointments are preferred, as our days end at 5 pm. Again, due to the busy nature of our schedules, significant advanced notice is appreciated. Please reach out to us at predental@coloradoasda.org if you are interested in organizing an event.
